{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-173.395","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 173.395","heading":"Consolidation of city library with public library district -- Dissolution of","body":"city library tax levy -- Transfer of assets.\n(1) If a public library district is established under KRS 173.450 to 173.800, the\nlegislative body of any city in such county tha t has established a library under KRS\n173.310(1) or (2) may dissolve the city library for the purpose of consolidating\nlibrary services in the public library district. Such dissolution shall have the effect\nof removing any tax levied under KRS 173.310 for the specific purpose of\nestablishing and maintaining the city library.\n(2) If a city library is dissolved pursuant to subsection (1) of this section, the city\nlegislative body shall immediately file an order of dissolution with the official who\nis responsible for collecting any tax levied under KRS 173.310. The official shall\nthereupon remove any tax levied under KRS 173.310, for the specific purpose of\nestablishing and maintaining the city library, from the tax bills of the property\nowners of the city.\n(3) After the satisfaction of any existing contractual obligations assumed in connection\nwith the dissolved library, the assets of the library shall be transferred to the public\nlibrary district, unless the terms of a gift held in trust prohibit such transfer.","path":["KRS Chapter 173"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=4945","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:24Z","sha256":"1d1d23bd1af66c18a1a199a628af64734d06cdf3366fe8019db67eab982c790a","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-173.390","next":"us-ky/krs-173.400"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
