{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-173.620","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 173.620","heading":"Annexation -- Procedure.","body":"Counties outside of any existing district, and contiguous thereto, may be annexed to the\ndistrict in the following manner:\n(1) Upon filing with the fiscal court of a duly certified petition of one hundred (100) or\nmore qualified voters residing within each county proposed to be annexed, the fiscal\ncourt of each county in the district and each county proposed to be annexed shall\nadopt a resolution submitting to the qualified voters of the county the question as to\nwhether the territory should be annexed. A c ertified copy of the order of the fiscal\ncourt shall be filed with the county clerk not later than the second Tuesday in\nAugust prior to the next general election and thereupon the county clerk shall cause\nthe question to be placed before the voters.\n(2) The question shall be in substantially the following form: \"Are you in favor of\nannexing the following described territory (here describe the territory) to the (name\ndistrict) Public Library District?\"\n(3) If the majority of those voting in each county on t he question favor the annexation\nof the territory it shall be so annexed.","path":["KRS Chapter 173"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=4965","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:24Z","sha256":"8bfdc507061d591b06d9248f0f79c123bf8f7ac4a87ee1cacc4f725f33787918","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-173.610","next":"us-ky/krs-173.630"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
