{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-174.120","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 174.120","heading":"Statewide bicycle and bikeways program.","body":"(1) The Transportation Cabinet shall develop and coordinate a statewide bicycle and\nbikeways program and shall coordinate plans for promotion of bicycling and\npromotion of bikeways with other state agencies, and units of local government in\norder to maximize t he use of roads, streets, parks and other publicly owned lands,\nabandoned road beds, and other resources in the development of bikeways.\n(2) The cabinet shall:\n(a) Assist and cooperate with local governments and other agencies in the\ndevelopment and construction of local and regional bikeway projects;\n(b) Develop and publish policies, procedures, and standards for planning,\ndesigning, and constructing, maintaining, marking, and operating bikeways in\nthe state, and for the safety of bicyclists, motorists, and the public;\n(c) Develop bikeway demonstration projects and safety training programs; and\n(d) Develop and construct a State Bikeway System.\n(3) (a) The cabinet shall be authorized to appropriate needed funds for the program in\nthe biennial budget, subject to approval of the General Assembly.\n(b) The cabinet is authorized to obtain any federal, state, local, or private funds\navailable to the cabinet, and designated for the purpose of this section and\nKRS 174.125.","path":["KRS Chapter 174"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=5014","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:25Z","sha256":"22cbf72306515629bf87e2087f36e4dd189b24a6c8de21697e712cf58c61826e","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-174.105","next":"us-ky/krs-174.125"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
