{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-174.420","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 174.420","heading":"Carrying of shipping papers and hazardous waste manifest.","body":"(1) Any person transporting hazardous materials in the Commonwealth shall carry a\ncopy of the shipping papers required in 49 C.F.R. (1978), as amended, in the\ntransporting vehicle while in the Commonwealth.\n(2) In the event of an accident involving hazardous m aterial, the operator of the vehicle\nshall:\n(a) Notify the Department of Kentucky State Police of the accident within one (1)\nhour, who shall then notify the local jurisdiction and any other appropriate\nstate agency with emergency action responsibility, and\n(b) Provide the shipping papers to state and local emergency response authorities,\nand immediately bring to their attention the fact that the vehicle is transporting\nhazardous materials.\n(3) In addition to the other requirements of this section, any pers on transporting\nhazardous wastes shall carry in the transporting vehicle a copy of a manifest in a\nform approved by the Energy and Environment Cabinet.","path":["KRS Chapter 174"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=5025","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:25Z","sha256":"0da9cbe077b7c1078c1bc2d557097dd789fb93e806c554e1d72a3fda9a98912b","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-174.415","next":"us-ky/krs-174.425"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
