{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-174.508","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 174.508","heading":"Approval of requests for use of state aircraft.","body":"(1) All requests for use of state aircraft shall be approved in advance by the:\n(a) Constitutional officer;\n(b) Program cabinet secretary or his designee in writing;\n(c) For the judicial branch, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court or the director\nof the Administrative Office of the Courts; or\n(d) For the legislative branch, the co -chairs of the Legislative Research\nCommission or the director of the Legislative Research Commission.\n(2) Verbal requests for state aircraft transportation may be honored. However,  all\nrequests for state aircraft shall be provided in writing to the Capital City Airport\nDivision within five (5) working days of the date of the flight.\n(3) Approving officials shall be responsible for determining that a trip is for official\nbusiness, that use of state aircraft is the most appropriate means of transportation,\nand that the proposed passenger complement conforms to the requirements of KRS\n174.506(3). In determining the passenger complement, requesting agencies shall\nweigh the benefit to the agency of the inclusion of additional passengers against the\nincreased costs that might be incurred if a larger aircraft is required to\naccommodate additional passengers on a trip.\n(4) All requests for use of state aircraft shall be submitted on a form pr escribed by the\nCapital City Airport Division and shall contain at a minimum the following\ninformation:\n(a) Cabinet or agency name;\n(b) Department name with appropriate billing account number;\n(c) Purpose of the trip;\n(d) Destination, including any planned stopovers and the reason for them;\n(e) Names of all passengers on the flight; and\n(f) Identification of any percentage of the flight that is for personal business in\ncases of the Governor or Lieutenant Governor as allowed under KRS 174.506.","path":["KRS Chapter 174"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=5034","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:25Z","sha256":"29b9e8caf1337ba755fd193d9d521e6a1f6a0cb8404ed4c5dc6acf8fe58b98a0","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-174.506","next":"us-ky/krs-174.510"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
