{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-176.500","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 176.500","heading":"Mississippi River Parkway Commission of Kentucky -- Members -- Duties","body":"-- Reimbursement for expenses.\n(1) The Mississippi River Parkway Commission of Kentucky is hereby established to\nserve as the local coordinating agency for the development of the Gr eat River Road\nalong the Mississippi River from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico. The commission\nshall be attached to the Office of the Secretary of the Tourism, Arts and Heritage\nCabinet for administrative purposes.\n(2) The commission shall consist of the fol lowing ten (10) members: Four (4) citizen\nmembers, appointed by the Governor, and consisting of one (1) member from each\nof the four (4) counties that border the Mississippi River, who shall serve a term of\nfour (4) years and may serve until a successor is  appointed. Four (4) members shall\nbe the respective county judges/executive of Ballard, Carlisle, Fulton, and Hickman\nCounties in Kentucky. Other members shall be the secretary of the Tourism, Arts\nand Heritage Cabinet or his designee; and the secretary o f the Transportation\nCabinet, or his designee. The commission shall annually elect a chairman and shall\nmeet quarterly or upon call of the chairman with ten (10) days' written notice. Six\n(6) members present shall constitute a quorum for the official condu ct of business.\nThe commission may enter into contracts with the Purchase Area Development\nDistrict to provide administrative services.\n(3) Members shall receive no compensation but shall be reimbursed according to state\nregulations for actual and necessar y expenses incurred in conducting commission\nbusiness.\n(4) The commission shall assure that the proper direction is taken in developing a\ncorridor of scenic, historical, and archaeological significance through the Kentucky\ncounties of Ballard, Carlisle, Hickman, and Fulton.","path":["KRS Chapter 176"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=5221","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:27Z","sha256":"a8410c204610c96172d468ca6455dd30322457e3159fe0f1513ab6f55e8d05c3","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-176.470","next":"us-ky/krs-176.505"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
