{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-177.010","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 177.010","heading":"Definitions for KRS 177.010 to 177.890.","body":"As used in KRS 177.010 to 177.890, unless the context otherwise requires:\n(1) \"Department\" means Department of Highways of the Commonwealth of Kentucky;\n(2) \"Construct\" includes reconstruct and improve;\n(3) \"Roads\" includes rural roads; highways; bridges and bridge approaches; city streets,\nviaducts, and bridges;\n(4) \"Rural and secondary roads\" includes:\n(a) A county road as defined in KRS 178.010(1)(b);\n(b) A publicly-owned road other than a state or federal highway, that is outside a\ncity, town, or urban area having a population of twenty -five hundred (2,500)\nor more;\n(c) A road that is classified as part of the rural secondary road system by the\nDepartment of Highways;\n(5) \"Public grade crossing\" means the at -grade intersection of a railroad track or trac ks\nand a road or highway that has been dedicated to public use and incorporated into\neither the state primary road system or the highway or road system of a county or\nmunicipality;\n(6) \"Cabinet\" means the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet; and\n(7) \"Secretary\" means the secretary of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.","path":["KRS Chapter 177"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=5230","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:27Z","sha256":"f746eb79b645481153caea78d6848ef386932fdd570e12743e52c4edd30360e5","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-176.991","next":"us-ky/krs-177.020"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
