{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-177.090","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 177.090","heading":"Acquisition of land along federal -aid highways for scenic beauty --","body":"Condemnation.\n(1) The Department of Highways is hereby authorized to acquire and improve strips of\nland necessary for the restoration, preservation, and enhancement of scenic beauty\nwithin and adjacent to federal -aid highways of this state, including acquisition and\ndevelopment of publicly owned and controlled rest and recreation areas and sanitary\nand other facilities within or adjacent to the highway right -of-way reasonably\nnecessary to accommodate the traveling public.\n(2) The interest in any land authorized to be acquired and maintained under this section\nmay be the fee simple or any lesser interest, as determined by the Department of\nHighways to be reasonably necessary to accomplis h the purposes of this section.\nSuch acquisition may be by gift, purchase, exchange, or condemnation.\n(3) The acquisition through condemnation shall be in accordance with the provisions of\nthe Eminent Domain Act of Kentucky.","path":["KRS Chapter 177"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=5277","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:28Z","sha256":"f2df98e791a9db92c47cd62ca1229dd114cab5a12ae41eda9d0669f1cdc0c7b8","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-177.089","next":"us-ky/krs-177.095"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
