{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-177.990","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 177.990","heading":"Penalties.","body":"(1) Any person who violates any of the provisions of KRS 177.230 to 177.310 shall be\nguilty of a misdemeanor and upon arrest and conviction therefor, shall be fined not\nless than five dollars ($5) nor more than one hundred dollars ($100).\n(2) Any person who willfully violates any of the provisions of KRS 177.841 to 177.890\nshall, in addition to any other penalty herein provided, be fined not less than one\nhundred dollars ($100) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500).\n(3) Any person who violates the weight pr ovisions of KRS 177.9771 shall, upon\nconviction, be fined in an amount equal to three cents ($0.03) per pound when the\nexcess is three thousand (3,000) pounds or less, five cents ($0.05) per pound when\nthe excess exceeds three thousand (3,000) pounds but i s less than four thousand\n(4,000) pounds, seven cents ($0.07) per pound when the excess exceeds four\nthousand (4,000) pounds but is less than five thousand (5,000) pounds, and nine\ncents ($0.09) per pound when the excess exceeds five thousand (5,000) pound s. In\nno case shall the fine be less than sixty dollars ($60) nor more than five hundred\ndollars ($500).\n(4) Any person who transports coal in violation of the weight provisions of KRS\n189.221 and 189.222 and does not have a current decal or is not transpo rting coal\nunder a valid cooperative agreement within KRS 177.9771(4)(f), shall, in addition\nto any applicable penalty prescribed by law, be fined five hundred dollars ($500)\nand be required to purchase the decal described in KRS 177.9771(4).\n(5) Any person who violates the provisions of KRS 177.305 shall be fined not less than\ntwenty dollars ($20) nor more than one hundred dollars ($100) for each offense.","path":["KRS Chapter 177"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57080","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:30Z","sha256":"e5d537002bdd8b59df3ec1f1743cd41b1393f1ad7357c33f66d00fb803350e33","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-177.986","next":"us-ky/krs-177.999"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
