{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-180.276","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 180.276","heading":"Acquisition of ferries near interstate bridges -- Valuation.","body":"Prior to the opening for public use of any interstate bridge, the construction of which is\nauthorized by any law of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, regardless of the state agency,\ncommission or administrative body so authorized to make such construction, the  state\nagency, commission or administrative body so authorized to construct, operate and\nmaintain any such interstate bridge shall purchase the ferry, equipment, franchises, rights\nand privileges used in connection with the operation of any ferry which has  been in\ncontinuous operation for at least fifteen (15) years prior thereto and which is located\nwithin five (5) miles of the site of said bridge, and pay the owner therefor a fair cash\nvalue; provided, that in the event such agency, commission or administ rative body and\nthe owner of such ferry shall be unable to agree upon a fair cash value, the valuation of\nsuch property shall be determined by three (3) persons; one (1) to be selected by the\nagency authorized to make such construction, one (1) to be selec ted by the owners of the\nferry and the third to be selected by these two (2). The ferry shall be valued as a going\nconcern, but no allowance shall be made for future growth. In the event the owner of such\nferry shall not agree to the establishment of such valuation according to the foregoing\nmethod, then in such event, the agency, commission or administrative body shall not be\nrequired to purchase such assets from the owner of the ferry.","path":["KRS Chapter 180"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=5564","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:32Z","sha256":"0d07b063462fd76a13f5dc786d69871204f94dbf85508ca884b1a3a87cc290ac","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-180.274","next":"us-ky/krs-180.278"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
