{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-183.165","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 183.165","heading":"Landing strips for personal use -- Limitation on regulation by local","body":"government -- Fee.\n(1) All statutes to the contrary notwithstanding, any property owner who resides in a\ncounty with a population of thirty -five thousand (35,000) or greater, and who  owns\nat least one thousand (1,000) contiguous acres, may construct a landing strip for\ntheir personal use that is capable of handling two (2) private aircraft. The landing\nstrip shall not be used for public or commercial purposes.\n(2) The landing strip au thorized under this section shall meet all regulations or\nstandards promulgated by the Federal Aviation Administration concerning areas\nregulated for the safe maneuvering approach and landing of aircraft.\n(3) All local governments shall be prohibited from regulating landing strips authorized\nunder this section and shall be prohibited from enacting planning and zoning\nordinances contrary to the provisions of this section.\n(4) For the purposes of this section, roadways or railroad rights -of-way shall not be\nconsidered a separation of contiguous acres.\n(5) The property owner may be required to pay a fee of one hundred dollars ($100) per\nyear to the county in which the airport is located.","path":["KRS Chapter 183"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=5746","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:34Z","sha256":"79a7fc621bb1028beadca235c88ed6727dad949b87a0f9d38ddddf0c610d2807","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-183.160","next":"us-ky/krs-183.170"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
