{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-186.018","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 186.018","heading":"Driving history records of operators -- Fees.","body":"(1) For purposes of maintaining driving history records of operators of motor vehicles\nof the Commonwealth, the files of the Transportation Cabinet shall be used to\nascertain the driving history record of each person who is licensed to operate a\nmotor vehicle within the Commonwealth.\n(2) Except as provided in subsections (3) and (4) of this section, the Transportation\nCabinet shall destroy, and shall not maintain, records of moving traffic convictions\nthat are more than ten (10) years old.\n(3) For any licensee who now holds, who has applied for, or has ever held a\ncommercial driver's license or commercial learner's permit issued pursuant to KRS\n281A.120 or 281A.170, the cabinet shall keep conviction records indefinitely.\n(4) The Transportation Cabinet shall not release information on the driving history\nrecord of a person under the age of twenty -one (21) whose operator license has\nbeen suspended pursuant to KRS 189A.010(6). The cabinet shall destroy, and shall\nnot maintain, the record of the suspension of a perso n's operator's license if the\nlicense was suspended pursuant to KRS 189A.010(6), within five (5) working days\nof the person's operator's license being reinstated. This subsection shall not apply to\na person who holds, or is required to hold, a commercial d river's license or\ncommercial learner's permit.\n(5) The cabinet shall charge a fee of three dollars ($3) for any driving history record,\nten cents ($0.10) of which shall be deposited in a special account within the road\nfund to be used exclusively by the T ransportation Cabinet for the state driver\neducation program as designated in KRS 186.535.","path":["KRS Chapter 186"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=58148","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:36Z","sha256":"c67516cfef53bb1720dd8d6cf29b043338fe82ea07e18beb6f48275513756a1f","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-186.017","next":"us-ky/krs-186.020"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
