{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-186.049","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 186.049","heading":"Voluntary donation to the Kentucky Circuit Clerks' Trust for Life to","body":"promote organ donation.\n(1) (a) Any person applying online for motor vehicle registration renewal shall be\nrequested by the cabinet, at the time of renewal, to make a volunt ary donation\nto promote an organ donor program.\n(b) A county clerk may ask any person applying for an initial or renewal motor\nvehicle registration to make a voluntary donation to promote an organ donor\nprogram.\n(2) Any donation under this section shall be  added to the regular fee for motor vehicle\nregistration renewal.\n(3) (a) Any donation made under subsection (1)(a) of this section shall be paid to the\ncabinet and shall be forwarded by the cabinet on a monthly basis to the\nKentucky Circuit Court Clerks' Trust for Life, and such moneys are hereby\nappropriated to be used exclusively for the purpose of promoting an organ\ndonor program. A donation under this section shall be voluntary and may be\nrefused by the applicant at the time of online renewal.\n(b) Any donation made under subsection (1)(b) of this section shall be paid to the\ncounty clerk and forwarded by the county clerk on a monthly basis to the\nKentucky Circuit Court Clerks' Trust for Life, and such moneys are hereby\nappropriated to be used exclusivel y for the purpose of promoting an organ\ndonor program. A donation under this section shall be voluntary and may be\nrefused by the applicant at the time of application.\n(4) (a) The cabinet shall provide an opportunity for any person applying for online\nmotor vehicle registration renewal to express willingness to make an\nanatomical gift under KRS 311.1917. If a person who has made a declaration\nunder this subsection wishes to rescind that declaration, that person shall\nnotify the Kentucky Circuit Court Clerks ' Trust for Life, which shall remove\nthe person from their records.\n(b) A county clerk may provide an opportunity for any person applying for initial\nor renewal motor vehicle registration, to express willingness to make an\nanatomical gift under KRS 311.191 7. If a person who has made a declaration\nunder this subsection wishes to rescind that declaration, that person shall\nnotify the Kentucky Circuit Court Clerks' Trust for Life, which shall remove\nthe person from their records.\n(5) The Transportation Cabinet  may promulgate administrative regulations pursuant to\nKRS Chapter 13A to implement the provisions of this section.","path":["KRS Chapter 186"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=52499","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:36Z","sha256":"d935931d8f27e367864a1fb4514e9922dfab3510dc6d1e65b45e1522c7ce120d","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-186.047","next":"us-ky/krs-186.050"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
