{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-186.1911","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 186.1911","heading":"Replacement of vehicle identification number -- Fee.","body":"(1) In any instance where a transfer of a motor vehicle is accompanied by a certificate\nof title or registration and the vehicle has had the vehicle identification number\nremoved, altered, defaced, or covered, the owner shall, before delivery of the\nvehicle to  any other person, obtain a replacement vehicle identification number\nfrom the manufacturer and affix it to the vehicle at the places specified by the\nDepartment of Vehicle Regulation or obtain a Kentucky identification number from\nthe department and affix  it to the vehicle at the places specified by the Department\nof Vehicle Regulation.\n(2) Each application for a Kentucky identification number from the department shall be\nassessed a five dollar ($5) fee, which shall be retained by the department to defray\nthe costs of processing, producing, and transmitting the plates to the applicant.","path":["KRS Chapter 186"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=55046","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:38Z","sha256":"94d7ed2cb50acb27224f2c36dd163df1b2bcf1798471e475b77a40a5a4f9067f","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-186.191","next":"us-ky/krs-186.192"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
