{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-186.405","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 186.405","heading":"Registration with United States Selective Service System -- Duties of","body":"cabinet.\n(1) Any United States male citizen or immigrant who is at least eighteen (18) years of\nage but less than twenty -six (26) years of age shall be registered for the United\nStates Selective Service System when applying to the Transportation Cabinet for the\nissuance, renewal, or duplicate copy of:\n(a) An operator's license;\n(b) A commercial driver's license; or\n(c) A personal identification card.\n(2) This registration is in compl iance with federal Selective Service System\nrequirements.\n(3) The Transportation Cabinet shall forward, in an electronic format, the necessary\npersonal information required for registration of the applicants identified in this\nsection to the Selective Serv ice System via the American Association of Motor\nVehicles Administrators Network. If an applicant declines registration, the\nTransportation Cabinet shall forward the necessary personal information to the\nSelective Service System with the notation that automatic registration was declined.\n(4) The applicant's submission of the application shall serve as an indication that the\napplicant has already registered with the Selective Service System, or that he is\nauthorizing the Transportation Cabinet to forward the  necessary information for\nregistration to the Selective Service System.\n(5) The Transportation Cabinet shall include the following statement on applications\nfor licenses or identification cards described in this section: \"By submitting this\napplication, I  am consenting to registration with the federal Selective Service\nSystem, if so required. If under eighteen (18) years of age, I understand that I will be\nregistered as required by federal law when I attain eighteen (18) years of age.\" In the\nevent the applicant declines Selective Service registration, the cabinet may issue an\noperator's license or personal identification card, but shall forward the necessary\npersonal information to the Selective Service System.","path":["KRS Chapter 186"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=6044","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:38Z","sha256":"6588bb756e82b1a16bb75cdb4c936cb350b6b6301a0ae2fea01a58c009716248","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-186.403","next":"us-ky/krs-186.407"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
