{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-186.419","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 186.419","heading":"Additional documentation required for voluntary travel ID permit, license,","body":"or identification card -- Administrative regulations -- Proof of physical address\nand citizenship or immigration status.\n(1) In addition to the information required unde r KRS 186.412, 186.4121, 186.4122,\nand 186.4123, an applicant for a voluntary travel ID instruction permit, operator's\nlicense, or personal identification card under KRS 186.403 shall present two (2) of\nthe following documents upon application or renewal t hat show the name and\nphysical residential address of the applicant:\n(a) Utility bill that is less than one (1) year old;\n(b) Current lease or rental agreement;\n(c) Bank statement that is less than one (1) year old;\n(d) Mortgage statement;\n(e) Telephone bill that is less than one (1) year old;\n(f) Current insurance policy;\n(g) State or federal tax return that is less than one (1) year old;\n(h) Pay slip or salary statement that is less than one (1) year old;\n(i) Record from an educational institution in Kent ucky which establishes\nenrollment;\n(j) Kentucky voter registration card that is less than one (1) year old;\n(k) Current property tax bill;\n(l) Current vehicle registration;\n(m) Current operator's license, instruction permit, or personal identification card;\n(n) Postmarked mail that is less than one (1) year old;\n(o) Internal Revenue Service form W-2 from the most recent tax year available; or\n(p) Internal Revenue Service form 1099 from the most recent tax year available.\n(2) Any of the documents described in subsection (1) of this section that contains the\nname of the spouse of the applicant, together with a certified copy of the applicant's\nmarriage license or marriage certificate, shall be considered acceptable\ndocumentation of proof of residence under subsection (1) of this section.\n(3) The Transportation Cabinet may promulgate administrative regulations under KRS\nChapter 13A to identify additional documentation that would satisfy the proof of\nresidence requirement under this section.\n(4) A Kentucky post office box address is not sufficient proof of physical address for\npurposes of this section.\n(5) The cabinet may require additional proof of physical address if the cabinet questions\nthe validity or authenticity of the proof of physical address submitted by the\napplicant.\n(6) In addition to the information required under KRS 186.412, 186.4121, 186.4122,\nand 186.4123, an applicant for a voluntary travel ID instruction permit, operator's\nlicense, or personal identification card under KRS 186.403 shall present valid\ndocumentary evidence that the applicant:\n(a) Is a citizen or national of the United States;\n(b) Is an alien lawfully admitted for permanent or temporary residence in the\nUnited States;\n(c) Has conditional permanent resident status in the United States;\n(d) Has an approved application for asylum in the United States or has entered\ninto the United States in refugee status;\n(e) Has a valid, unexpired nonimmigrant visa or nonimmigrant visa status for\nentry into the United States;\n(f) Has a pending application for asylum in the United States;\n(g) Has a pending or approved application for temporary protected status in the\nUnited States;\n(h) Has approved deferred action status; or\n(i) Has a pending application for adjustment of  status to that of an alien lawfully\nadmitted for permanent residence in the United States or conditional\npermanent resident status in the United States.","path":["KRS Chapter 186"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=49857","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:38Z","sha256":"e05c16565ddb9c60828a9fb9f9738db1569dbebc9d5ced1d4b100479cc718ae8","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-186.418","next":"us-ky/krs-186.420"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
