No public agency shall\nprohibit the operation of fully autonomous vehicles or automated driving systems or\nimpose any rule, regulation, or ordinance in confl ict with KRS 186.760 to 186.779\nor that otherwise differentiates the treatment of fully autonomous vehicles and\nautomated driving systems from non-autonomous vehicles.\n(2) Nothing in subsection (1) of this section shall be interpreted or construed to prohibit\na city, county, charter county government, consolidated local government, or urban-\ncounty government from exercising the powers and authorities provided by law to\ngovern the public streets and roadways within their respective jurisdictions,\nprovided that any action does not impose additional requirements in conflict with\nKRS 186.760 to 186.779 or otherwise differentiate the treatment of fully\nautonomous vehicles and automated driving systems from nonautonomous vehicles.","path":["KRS Chapter 186"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=55494","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:39Z","sha256":"813bf5b48f9c322c1121dbb37028300431c01e3841020956c988cccfc0cc3035","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-186.776","next":"us-ky/krs-186.860"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
