{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-186a.005","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 186A.005","heading":"Definitions for chapter.","body":"As used in this chapter:\n(1) \"Approved entity\" means:\n(a) A motor vehicle dealer licensed under KRS Chapter 190 that applies to and is\napproved by the Transportation Cabinet to facilitate the title application or\nsalvage title application process through the electronic title application and\nregistration system;\n(b) A state or federal financial institution chartered under the laws of this state,\nany other state, or the United States as a bank insured by the Federal Deposit\nInsurance Corporation (FDIC), bank holding company, trust company, credit\nunion, savings and loan association, or a holding company or service\ncorporation subsidiary thereof, or any agent of any of the entities listed in this\nparagraph;\n(c) An owner of a fleet as defined in this section that applies to and is approved\nby the Transportation Cabinet  to facilitate renewal of registration or\nmaintenance of permanent registration under KRS 186A.127 through the\nelectronic title application and registration system; and\n(d) A retailer of manufactured homes, mobile homes, or recreational vehicles, as\ndefined in KRS 227.550, that applies to and is approved by the Transportation\nCabinet to facilitate the title application process through the electronic title\napplication and registration system;\n(2) \"Cabinet\" means the Transportation Cabinet;\n(3) \"Electronic ti tle application and registration system\" means a system established\nunder KRS 186A.017 by which title applications, salvage title applications, title lien\nstatements, other supporting documents, signatures, and fees are input and\ntransmitted through the ti tle application and registration process in an electronic\nformat;\n(4) \"Fleet\" means:\n(a) A group of at least one hundred fifty (150) U -Drive-It vehicles owned by the\nholder of a U-Drive-It certificate; or\n(b) A group of at least ten (10) nonapportioned commercial motor vehicles owned\nby a company and used for business purposes;\n(5) \"Manufactured home\" has the same meaning as in KRS 227.550;\n(6) \"Termination statement\" means a statement allowing a lien to be released that is\ntransmitted by:\n(a) A form promulgated by the cabinet through administrative regulations in\naccordance with KRS Chapter 13A; or\n(b) A letter from a lender that is dated, signed, and notarized, on letterhead with\nthe name and logo of the lender, that includes the:\n1. Name of the owner of the vehicle or manufactured home;\n2. Identification number of the vehicle or manufactured home;\n3. Filing date of the lien; and\n4. Lien file number assigned at the time of the filing of the lien; and\n(7) \"Title lien statement\" means a document or electronic submission, submitted by a\nsecured party or authorized agent, to the cabinet through any county clerk's office in\nthe Commonwealth, to note the security interest on the certificate of title, or to\namend or terminate a security interest on the certificate of title.","path":["KRS Chapter 186A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57805","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:39Z","sha256":"634af18e17f089c99a875ac0b3e4eb22f34bbd99f885fb101ec6d812c0599841","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-186.992","next":"us-ky/krs-186a.010"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
