{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-186a.126","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 186A.126","heading":"Titles to be held in AVIS -- Request for printed titles.","body":"Beginning January 1, 2027:\n(1) Upon application for title under this chapter, the title shall not be mailed to the\nowner of the vehicle or manufactured home, but shall instead be held in AVIS;\n(2) The certificate of title shall be considered to be physically held by the lienholder for\nthe purposes of compliance with state and federal odometer disclosure\nrequirements, and a paper title shall not be required. The title may be in digital o r\nelectronic format;\n(3) Lienholders may request a printed title by submitting a request electronically\nthrough the electronic title application and registration system and paying the title\nprint fees under KRS 186A.130; and\n(4) A vehicle owner may request a printed copy of the title by submitting an application\nto the county clerk and paying the title print fees under KRS 186A.130:\n(a) Upon lien satisfaction in the system of record in AVIS; or\n(b) At any time, including the time of title application, for vehicles without a lien.","path":["KRS Chapter 186A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57800","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:39Z","sha256":"8984b0b0f19a7bc6fcd3794a5605024337175ae5501d707f7273ca89c8b8350e","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-186a.125","next":"us-ky/krs-186a.127"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
