{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-186a.250","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 186A.250","heading":"Suspension or revocation of title -- Conditions and methods for action.","body":"(1) The Department of Vehicle Regulation shall suspend or revoke a certificate of title,\nafter giving notice and providing a reasonable opportunity for the holder to be\nheard, when authorized by any other provision of law, or, if it finds:\n(a) The certificate of title was fraudulently procured or erroneously issued; or\n(b) The vehicle has been scrapped, dismantled, or destroyed. Suspension or\nrevocation of a certificate of title does not, in itself, affect the validity of a\nsecurity interest noted on it.\n(2) When the Department of Vehicle Regulation suspends or revokes a certificate of\ntitle, the owner or person in possession of it shall, immediately upon receiving\nnotice of the suspension or revocation, mail or deliver the certificate to the\nDepartment of Vehicle Regulation.\n(3) The department shall promptly notify the Department of Kentucky State Police of\nthe suspension or revocation of any certificate of title.\n(4) Any peace officer shall seize and impound any certificate of title which has been\nsuspended or revoked except when such document is in the custody of the\nDepartment of Vehicle Regulation or the Department of Kentucky State Police.","path":["KRS Chapter 186A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=6186","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:40Z","sha256":"8954677c8881d0f8261feb1907a509999d0d9ff91c4fae3d4edcf2a334863faa","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-186a.245","next":"us-ky/krs-186a.255"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
