{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-186a.300","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 186A.300","heading":"Possession of blank, uncompleted or partially executed title and","body":"registration documents prohibited -- Exceptions.\n(1) No person, except as provided in subsection (2) of this section shall have in his\npossession any blank, uncompleted, or partially ex ecuted \"certificate of title and\nregistration,\" \"certificate of registration,\" \"certificate of title,\" or other similarly\nstyled form or document, whether genuine or counterfeit, of this or any other state\nor country, which is of a type that, when genuine and properly issued, evidences\nownership of a vehicle under the laws of this or another state or country, and\nsurrender of which is required in order to sell, transfer, register or title a motor\nvehicle or trailer in this state.\n(2) A person who possesses forms or documents of the type described in subsection (1)\nof this section, is not in violation of this section if he:\n(a) Is an employee of a manufacturer or printer of such forms or documents and\npossesses such forms or documents in the normal course of the business of\ndesign or manufacture of them in connection with bid invitation, bid, or\ncontract with a governmental agency related to supplying such forms for\ngovernmental use.\n(b) Is an employee of a shipper, or agency, under whose direction such forms are\nbeing shipped or delivered to a state or local agency charged with receiving,\ndistributing or issuing such forms or documents, when they are in a container\nsealed under governmental direction.\n(c) Is an employee of a state agency who possesses such for ms or documents in\nthe course of carrying out his official duties when his duties are to handle such\nforms or documents.\n(d) Is a county clerk, or employee of a county clerk whose official work duties\nrequire the handling of such forms or documents, and he  possesses them\nwithin the confines of the county clerk's office or official storage space or\nimmediately incidental to placing them in such places.\n(e) Possesses such form or document and it is prominently and indelibly marked\non its face either: specimen, or void, or sample.","path":["KRS Chapter 186A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=6197","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:40Z","sha256":"8d74c7609f77ebb2ed950c11965a3936a981bf07bc8c65a5c8ae93a62f036fa2","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-186a.298","next":"us-ky/krs-186a.305"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
