{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-186a.510","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 186A.510","heading":"Definitions for KRS 186A.500 to 186A.550.","body":"As used in KRS 186A.500 to 186A.550, unless the context otherwise requires:\n(1) \"Brand\" means a designation that is affixed as required by this chapter, or that has\npreviously been affixed, to a motor vehicle title that establishes a portion of the\nhistory of the motor vehicle and that shall be fixed to all subsequently issued titles\nfor that vehicle;\n(2) \"Classic motor vehicle project\" means a motor vehicle that is:\n(a) At least twenty-five (25) years old;\n(b) Not in roadworthy condition; and\n(c) Either currently in this state and not titled or being brought into this state with\na regular title from another state that does not denote it as \"salvage,\" \"junk,\"\n\"rebuilt,\" or any similar designation;\n(3) \"Dealer\" means a person or business as defined in KRS 190 .010 who sells or offers\nfor sale a motor vehicle;\n(4) \"Junk vehicle\" means a vehicle which meets the description set forth in KRS\n186A.295(1)(a);\n(5) \"Motor vehicle\" means a motor vehicle as defined in KRS 186.010(8)(a) and (b);\n(6) \"Owner\" means a person  who holds the legal title of a vehicle or a person who\npursuant to a bona fide sale has received physical possession of the vehicle subject\nto any applicable security interest;\n(7) \"Rebuilt vehicle\" means a vehicle that has been repaired to a road worthy condition\nafter having been registered as a salvage vehicle pursuant to KRS 186A.520, or a\nsimilar salvage designation from another licensing jurisdiction;\n(8) \"Roadworthy condition\" means a vehicle in a safe condition to operate on the\nhighway and capable  of transporting persons or property that complies fully with\nthe provisions of KRS Chapter 189 pertaining to vehicle equipment; and\n(9) \"Water damage\" means damage to a motor vehicle caused by submerging or\npartially submerging the vehicle in water to the  extent that the vehicle was\nsubmerged or partially submerged at any water level above the dashboard of the\nvehicle, regardless of the actual dollar amount of the damage.","path":["KRS Chapter 186A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=6209","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:40Z","sha256":"938a41e6b9738028f525cb388d738151ea2888cc0805ea34007b3909350c0be6","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-186a.500","next":"us-ky/krs-186a.520"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
