{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-187.310","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 187.310","heading":"Certified abstract of operating record of motorist.","body":"(1) The cabinet shall, upon request, furnish any person a certified abstract of the\noperating record of any person subject to the provisions of KRS 187.290 to\n187.620. The abstract shall designate the motor vehicles, if any, registered in the\nname of the perso n. If there is not a record of the person being convicted of\nviolating any law relating to the operation of a motor vehicle, or of any injury or\ndamage caused by the person, the department shall so certify on the abstract.\n(2) The certified abstract shall not include information concerning any violation of the\nlaw, injury, or damage that occurred earlier than three (3) years prior to the request.\nThe abstracts shall not be admissible as evidence in any action for damages or\ncriminal proceedings arising out of a motor vehicle accident. The certified abstract\nshall not include accident reports filed with the Department of Kentucky State\nPolice under KRS 189.635, and shall not include suspension orders of a student\nwho has had his or her operator's license, per mit, or privilege to operate a motor\nvehicle revoked or denied for being academically deficient pursuant to KRS\n159.051 if the suspension has been lifted by the reinstatement of academic\neligibility pursuant to KRS 159.051. The cabinet shall not furnish to  any person the\naccident report of a driver other than himself or herself. This section shall in no way\npreclude the right of any court of law, law enforcement officer, or attorney\nrepresenting the individual affected from securing full and complete inform ation\nconcerning the record of that individual.\n(3) Insurance companies issuing motor vehicle policies in the Commonwealth shall be\nprohibited from raising a policyholder's rates solely because the policyholder has a\ndependent whose license has been revoke d or denied for being academically\ndeficient pursuant to KRS 159.051.","path":["KRS Chapter 187"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=6248","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:41Z","sha256":"a205ad6f02628b2e96871b92a960f3a54abc09ff4c2f5695c70e372d3e3cfac6","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-187.300","next":"us-ky/krs-187.320"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
