{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-187.440","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 187.440","heading":"Installment payment of judgment -- Default.","body":"(1) A judgment debtor upon due notice to the judgment creditor may apply to the court\nin which such judgment was rendered for the privilege of paying such judgment in\ninstallments and the court, in its discretion and without prejudice to any other legal\nremedies which the judgment creditor may have, may so order and fix the amounts\nand times of payment of the installments.\n(2) The cabinet shall not suspend a license, registration or a nonresident's operating\nprivilege, and shall restore any license, registratio n or nonresident's operating\nprivilege suspended following nonpayment of a judgment, when the judgment\ndebtor gives proof of financial responsibility and obtains such an order permitting\nthe payment of such judgment in installments, and while the payment o f any said\ninstallment is not in default.\n(3) In the event the judgment debtor fails to pay any installment as specified by such\norder, then upon notice of such default, the cabinet shall forthwith suspend the\nlicense, registration or nonresident's operating privilege of the judgment debtor until\nsuch judgment is satisfied as provided in KRS 187.290 to 187.620.","path":["KRS Chapter 187"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=6261","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:41Z","sha256":"2af6ed190137989f1f761f5d94233900b16512591093271cb11479f37a38ad1b","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-187.430","next":"us-ky/krs-187.450"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
