{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-189.2225","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 189.2225","heading":"Operation of certain overdimensional motor vehicles authorized in some","body":"counties -- Operation of certain overdimensional motor vehicles transporting\nagricultural commodities or materials authorized on all public roads.\n(1) In a county that does not have at least ten (10) miles of existing highway designated\nby the Transportation Cabinet for operation of motor vehicles that have a width of\none hundred two (102) inches, a motor vehicle that does not exceed the length\nrequirements set forth in KRS 189.222 (1)(b) or a width of one hundred two (102)\ninches may be operated on the state -maintained highway segments in that county\nwith lane widths of ten (10) or more feet if those highway segments are designated\nby the Transportation Cabinet as capable of accommo dating an eighty thousand\n(80,000) pound gross weight limit. The Transportation Cabinet shall promulgate an\nadministrative regulation pursuant to KRS Chapter 13A that lists the counties and\nhighway segments that meet the criteria of this subsection.\n(2) Vehicles authorized to operate on state -maintained roads pursuant to subsection (1)\nof this section shall be authorized to do so only until the Transportation Cabinet\npromulgates an administrative regulation pursuant to KRS Chapter 13A that\ndesignates more t han ten (10) miles of highway in a county as capable of\naccommodating motor vehicles with these dimensions.\n(3) A motor vehicle or combination motor vehicle transporting agricultural\ncommodities from a farm or transporting materials needed in the productio n of\nagricultural commodities to a farm that does not exceed the length requirements set\nforth in KRS 189.222(1)(b) or a width of one hundred two (102) inches shall be\nallowed to operate on any public road in Kentucky.\n(4) The provisions of this section sh all not authorize the weight limitation of any\nhighway or bridge to be exceeded.\n(5) The Transportation Cabinet shall promulgate administrative regulations pursuant to\nKRS Chapter 13A to establish reasonable safety criteria for the operation of motor\nvehicles pursuant to this section.","path":["KRS Chapter 189"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=6328","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:42Z","sha256":"64a074b3138c2d84bd5cca03ca8c356c0bf2da2e43d4dec7feef073a24dd7a0e","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-189.2224","next":"us-ky/krs-189.2226"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
