{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-189.227","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 189.227","heading":"Enforcement of KRS 189.221 to 189.228 and other statutes relating to","body":"motor vehicles -- Department of Kentucky State Police powers -- Commercial\nmotor vehicle inspectors.\n(1) The Department of Highways may take such actions, and may promulgate\nadministrative regulations in accordance with KRS Chapter 13A, as are necessary\nand proper to carry out the purposes of KRS 189.221 to 189.228, including but not\nlimited to the erection, establishment, and maintenance of permanent or portable\nscales.\n(2) The Depar tment of Kentucky State Police is authorized to employ commercial\nmotor vehicle inspectors and such other employees as may be necessary to operate\nany scales erected or established, and commercial motor vehicle inspectors\nemployed under this section shall have the authority of peace officers for the\npurpose of enforcing KRS 189.221 to 189.228, and other statutes relating to motor\nvehicles, and for no other purpose.
