{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-189.2713","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 189.2713","heading":"Annual and single -trip permits for transporting loads of metal","body":"commodities weighing between 80,001 and 120,000 pounds -- Administrative\nregulations.\n(1) As used in this section, \"metal commodities\":\n(a) Means output products from metal-producing industries that are transported in\ntheir most basic and original form from a mill or storage facility to market for\nprocessing; and\n(b) Does not include manufactured parts being transported from a manufacturer\nor supplier to another customer.\n(2) The department shall promulgate administrative regulations pursuant to KRS\nChapter 13A governing the issuance of annual and single -trip permits for the\noperation of motor vehicles transporting metal commodities with a minimum gross\nweight of eighty thousand and one (80,001) pounds and a maximum gross weight of\none hundred twenty thousand (120,000) pounds in divisible or nondivisible loads to\nor from a facility manufacturing metal commodities in this state or a facility used\nfor storage of metal commodities. T he administrative regulations promulgated\nunder this section shall include fees for annual and single-trip permits.\n(3) A motor carrier transporting metal commodities in divisible or nondivisible loads to\nor from a facility manufacturing metal commodities in this state or a facility used\nfor storage of metal commodities, may apply for an annual or single-trip overweight\npermit pursuant to subsection (2) of this section. A permit issued under this section\nshall be specific to a single truck and shall be valid twenty-four (24) hours a day.\n(4) Permits issued under this section shall contain a website hyperlink or any other\nmethod to provide the motor carrier with routes that are approved by the\ndepartment.\n(5) Upon renewal of any annual permit issued under thi s section, the permit holder\nshall report to the cabinet the number of trips made and the total miles driven under\nthe permit during the previous year.\n(6) Administrative regulations promulgated by the department under this section may\nrequire motor carriers to meet specific Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration\n(FMCSA) safety ratings and FMCSA safety measurement system scores before\nissuance of a permit under this section.","path":["KRS Chapter 189"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=55545","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:42Z","sha256":"a5c51e4b1095b26cbfaad13464454bec2061f9f90e0d1084086aab10cb5d3d8e","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-189.271","next":"us-ky/krs-189.2714"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
