{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-189.288","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 189.288","heading":"Operation, insuring, titling, and  registration of autocycles --","body":"Exemption  from headgear requirements.\n(1) As used in this section, \"autocycle\" has the same meaning as in KRS 186.010.\n(2) (a) A  person may operate an autocycle on a highway if the operator has a\nvalid operator's license in his or her possession.\n(b) An  operator of an autocycle shall not be required to obtain a motorcycle\nlicense or endorsement.\n(3) An autocycle operating on a highway shall be insured in compliance with KRS\n304.39-110 by the owner or operator, and the proof of insurance shall be inside\nthe vehicle at all times of operation on a highway.\n(4) An  autocycle operating on a highway is considered to be a motorcycle as\ndefined in KRS  186.010 and shall be titled in accordance with KRS  Chapter\n186A and registered as a motorcycle in accordance with KRS 186.050(2).\n(5) A  person operating an autocycle on a highway shall comply with the traffic\nregulations of KRS  Chapter 189 and shall be subject to the provisions of KRS\nChapter 189A.\n(6) An  operator of an autocycle shall be exempt from the protective headgear\nrequirements of KRS 189.285.","path":["KRS Chapter 189"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=46082","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:42Z","sha256":"386d0fd5d1b747c57c616274be50a264102333ccdc8b75c0eb12c42df65b9089","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-189.287","next":"us-ky/krs-189.289"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
