{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-189.337","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 189.337","heading":"Traffic control signs, uniform standards to be prescribed -- Sign to","body":"conform -- Prohibited activities.\n(1) As used in this chapter, \"official traffic control devices\" shall mean all signs,\nsignals, markings, and devices placed or erected by authority of a public body or\nofficial having jurisdiction, for the purpose of regulating, warning, or dividing\ntraffic.\n(2) The Department of Highways shall promulgate and adopt a manual of standards and\nspecifications for a uniform system of official traffic contr ol devices for use upon\nall roads and streets open to public travel. The manual and its future revisions and\nsupplements shall be applicable to all roads and streets under the control of the\nDepartment of Highways or any county or incorporated city.\n(3) All traffic control devices installed on any road or street after the adoption of the\nmanual shall conform to the provisions thereof. Satisfactory operating traffic\ndevices in use on the date of the adoption of the manual may continue to be used;\nhowever, if such devices are replaced or revised, they must be replaced or revised in\nconformance with the provisions of the manual.\n(4) No person shall place, maintain, or display on or in the view of any highway any\nauthorized sign, signal, marking, or device which resembles, purports to be, or is an\nimitation of an official traffic control device or signal.\n(5) A person shall not attempt to or in fact alter, twist, deface, injure, knock down, or\ninterfere with the effective operation of any official traffic control  device or signal,\nor any part thereof.","path":["KRS Chapter 189"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=6373","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:42Z","sha256":"c28aeb32a5267a5dffce24eebd20e1f809a8b7c277de18ed280deec624239d38","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-189.336","next":"us-ky/krs-189.338"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
