{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-18a.190","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 18A.190","heading":"Holidays for state personnel -- Military spouses to receive paid","body":"deployment and return days off.\n(1) State offices shall be closed and state employees shall be given a holiday on the\nfollowing days:\n(a) The first day of January plus one (1) extra day;\n(b) The third Monday in January;\n(c) Good Friday, one-half (1/2) day;\n(d) The last Monday in May;\n(e) The fourth day of July;\n(f) The first Monday in September;\n(g) The eleventh day of November;\n(h) Presidential election day as required under KRS 2.190;\n(i) The fourth Thursday in November plus one (1) extra day; and\n(j) The twenty-fifth day of December plus one (1) extra day.\n(2) When any of the days enumerated in subsection (1) falls on a Saturday, the\npreceding Friday shall be observed as the holiday, and when any of the days\nenumerated in subsection (1) falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be\nobserved as the holiday. When one (1) extra day is mentioned in paragraph s (a), (i)\nand (j) of subsection (1), the Governor shall designate the extra day.\n(3) Any state employee who is the spouse of a member of the United States Armed\nForces, including a member of a state National Guard or a Reserve component on\nfederal active duty, shall receive, at the discretion of the state employee, one (1) day\noff, with pay, from work when the member is deployed and one (1) day off, with\npay, from work when the member returns from deployment.\n(4) The holidays set out in this section are in  addition to vacation leave and other\nbenefits of state employees.","path":["KRS Chapter 18A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=1386","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:40Z","sha256":"ccf6fb704c37abbc7b8d23693d178d096c84cda6304e5ac5a6070336d68c2d15","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-18a.185","next":"us-ky/krs-18a.194"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
