{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-190.080","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 190.080","heading":"Previous consumer -owner information provided upon request -- Written","body":"consent requirement.\n(1) As used in this section, \"previous consumer -owner\" means the last owner of the\nvehicle who could reasonably be expected to have operated the used car for\npersonal, family, household, or business purposes, but does not include an owner\nwho possessed the vehicle primarily for resale purposes.\n(2) (a) Except as provided in paragraph (b) of this subsection, a motor vehicle dealer\nor motor vehicle salesp erson shall not refuse to furnish, upon request of a\nprospective purchaser, the name, address, and telephone number, if known or\navailable, of the previous consumer-owner of any used car offered for sale.\n(b) The provisions of paragraph (a) of this subsect ion shall not apply if the\nprevious consumer -owner has not given written consent to share his or her\ninformation with a prospective purchaser.\n(3) A person shall not transfer a motor vehicle in order to avoid compliance with this\nsection.","path":["KRS Chapter 190"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=54933","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:45Z","sha256":"ddf6175a53aab2b1f88efc537cd3abdd41248c5a30fc0e41866c46df0c548b4f","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-190.075","next":"us-ky/krs-190.085"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
