{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-194a.400","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 194A.400","heading":"Definitions for KRS 194A.400 and 194A.410.","body":"As used in this section and KRS 194A.410:\n(1) \"Bioterrorism\" means the intentional use, to cause or attempt to cause death,\ndisease, or other biological malfunction in any living organism, of any of the\nfollowing:\n(a) Microorganism;\n(b) Virus;\n(c) Infectious substance; or\n(d) Biological product that may be engineered as a result of biotechnology or any\nnaturally occurring or bioengineered component of any microorganism, virus,\ninfectious substance, or biological product;\n(2) \"Commissioner\" means the commiss ioner of the Department for Public Health\nwithin the Cabinet for Health and Family Services;\n(3) \"Department\" means the Department for Public Health within the Cabinet for\nHealth and Family Services;\n(4) \"Disaster location\" means any geographical location where a bioterrorism attack,\nterrorist attack, catastrophic event, natural disaster, or emergency occurs; and\n(5) \"Emergency responder\" means state or local law enforcement personnel, fire\ndepartment personnel, corrections officers, and emergency medical p ersonnel who\nmay be deployed to a bioterrorism attack, terrorist attack, catastrophic event, natural\ndisaster, or emergency.","path":["KRS Chapter 194A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=6668","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:47Z","sha256":"e88574076cc0beed39dd1e18b9a052cd168d5cf15862e1979210aedd315d307d","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-194a.387","next":"us-ky/krs-194a.410"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
