{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-194a.545","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 194A.545","heading":"Training and continuing education courses for staff of Department for","body":"Community Based Services.\n(1) The secretary for health and family services shall develop an initial training course\nand continuing education courses for employees of the D epartment for Community\nBased Services concerning the:\n(a) Dynamics of domestic violence and elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation;\neffects of domestic violence and elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation on\nadult and child victims;\n(b) Legal remedies for protection;\n(c) Lethality and risk issues;\n(d) Model protocols for addressing domestic violence; and\n(e) Available community resources and victim services; and\n(f) Reporting requirements.\nThe training shall be developed in consultation with legal, victim  services, victim\nadvocacy, and mental health professionals with an expertise in domestic violence.\n(2) Each person employed by the Department for Community Based Services who\nprovides supervisory or direct service at the local, district, or state level sh all\nsuccessfully complete the initial training course and, at least once every two (2)\nyears, the continuing education course developed under subsection (1) of this\nsection.\n(3) The secretary is encouraged to include an educational component covering the\nrecognition and prevention of:\n(a) Pediatric abusive head trauma, as defined in KRS 620.020; and\n(b) Pediatric ingestion or inhalation of controlled substances;\nas part of the initial training and continuing education for Department for\nCommunity Based Services front-line child protection staff.","path":["KRS Chapter 194A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57465","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:47Z","sha256":"8c4b0dc2ec176fe6b00825866ee24fab73b0b01e419d407e0ebfa8f6a1498f25","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-194a.540","next":"us-ky/krs-194a.550"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
