{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-194a.703","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 194A.703","heading":"Requirements for living units.","body":"(1) Each living unit in an assisted living community shall:\n(a) Be at least two hundred (200) square feet for single occupancy, or for double\noccupancy if the room is shared with a spouse or another individual by mutual\nagreement;\n(b) Include at least one (1) unfurnished room, a lockable entry door unless in a\nsecured dementia care unit, a private bathroom with a tub or shower,\nprovisions for emergency response, a window to the outdoors, and a telephone\njack;\n(c) Unless living units are in a secured dementia ca re unit, have an individual\nthermostat control if the assisted living community has more than twenty (20)\nunits; and\n(d) Have temperatures that are not under a resident's direct control at a minimum\nof seventy-one (71) degrees Fahrenheit in winter conditio ns and a maximum\nof eighty -one (81) degrees Fahrenheit in summer conditions if the assisted\nliving community has twenty (20) or fewer units, or the living units are in a\nsecured dementia care unit.\n(2) Each resident shall be provided access to central dini ng, a laundry facility, and a\ncentral living room.\n(3) Each assisted living community shall comply with applicable building and life\nsafety codes as determined by the building code or life safety code enforcement\nauthority with jurisdiction.","path":["KRS Chapter 194A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=52503","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:47Z","sha256":"80b01bee7dc424f61dc89ccbbfe64bc6e3613c6efc8e622b810ae6b1f8bac2ea","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-194a.700","next":"us-ky/krs-194a.704"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
