{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-194a.800","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 194A.800","heading":"Pilot program -- Community pharmacy care for medication -assisted","body":"substance abuse therapy -- Components -- Report.\n(1) For the purposes of this section, \"pilot program\" means a program in a county or set\nof counties, or a subset or subsets of t he population, as designated by the Cabinet\nfor Health and Family Services and the Department for Behavioral Health,\nDevelopmental and Intellectual Disabilities.\n(2) A pilot program is established to analyze the outcomes and effectiveness of a\ncommunity ph armacy care delivery model for medication -assisted therapy for\ntreatment of substance abuse in order to ensure that the Commonwealth is:\n(a) Using approaches that have been shown to be effective;\n(b) Intervening early at important stages and transitions; and\n(c) Intervening in appropriate settings and domains.\n(3) Sources of data for the pilot program shall include, at a minimum, claims data from\nthe Department for Medicaid Services, including claims data from Medicaid\nmanaged care organizations submitted to the Department for Medicaid Services.\n(4) As funds are available, the Cabinet for Health and Family Services shall initiate a\npilot program to determine, collect, and analyze performance measurement data for\na community pharmacy care delivery model for n oncontrolled medication-assisted\ntherapy as part of substance abuse treatment services to determine practices that\nincrease access to treatment, reduce frequency of relapse, provide better outcomes\nfor patients, and control health costs related to substanc e abuse treatment. Program\ncomponents shall:\n(a) Use a community pharmacy care delivery model for noncontrolled\nmedication-assisted therapy for the treatment of substance abuse, as\nauthorized by the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy pursuant to KRS 315.010(25);\n(b) Include a wraparound services model that engages psychological and social\nsupport for the patient;\n(c) Establish collaborative relationships between detention facilities, drug courts,\ncommunity pharmacists, and practitioners who provide psychosocial\ninterventions to evaluate individuals' eligibility for participation in a\ncommunity pharmacy care delivery model for noncontrolled medication -\nassisted therapy; and\n(d) Include pilot program data collection designed to inform the outcomes and\neffectiveness of a community pharmacy care delivery model for medication -\nassisted therapy for treatment of substance abuse.\n(5) By December 31, 2019, the Cabinet for Health and Family Services shall provide a\njoint report to the Legislative Research Commission and the Off ice of the Governor\nthat:\n(a) Details the findings of the pilot program; and\n(b) Includes recommendations based on the pilot program's results for optimizing\nsubstance abuse treatment services provided in community pharmacies.","path":["KRS Chapter 194A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=47965","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:47Z","sha256":"ceb7e4b724c1cdcf3903893e702750417e59a885f00bfc90d3bf3dead9784f6b","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-194a.750","next":"us-ky/krs-194a.990"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
