{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-196.042","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 196.042","heading":"Criminal justice reinvestment fund -- Annual funds appropriations --","body":"Dedicated use of funds.\n(1) The criminal justice reinvestment fund is created as a trust fund. The trust fund shall\nconsist of funds deposited pursuant to KRS 196.044 and shall be appropriated for\nthe purposes set forth in subsection (3) of this section. The department shall\nadminister the fund.\n(2) Any interest earned on moneys in the fund shall become a part of the fund and shall\nnot lapse.\n(3) All funds in the criminal justice  reinvestment fund shall be appropriated ninety (90)\ndays after the close of the fiscal year as follows:\n(a) Twenty percent (20%) to the department for expanding and enhancing\nevidence-based substance use disorder treatment programs for inmates;\n(b) Twenty percent (20%) to the Office of Drug Control Policy for expanding and\nenhancing evidence -based substance use disorder treatment programs,\nincluding but not limited to treatment for neonatal abstinence syndrome;\n(c) Twenty percent (20%) to the crime victims ' compensation fund established in\nKRS 49.480;\n(d) Twenty percent (20%) to the department for reentry services, including but not\nlimited to vocational training; and\n(e) Twenty percent (20%) to the community corrections fund established in KRS\n196.732.\n(4) For programs that receive funding under subsection (3) of this section, the moneys\nappropriated pursuant to this section shall not be used to replace any other state or\ncounty appropriations that the programs would have received if not for the\nappropriation made pursuant to this section.","path":["KRS Chapter 196"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=46855","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:48Z","sha256":"ccfdae5baafea83a6f7b394e2ca2b4c492f8bf888eb7e9ad5d5aa87d5d304026","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-196.040","next":"us-ky/krs-196.044"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
