{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-196.280","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 196.280","heading":"Notification of release of person from penitentiary, facility for youthful","body":"offenders, regional jail, or county jail -- Escape.\n(1) (a) The Department of Corrections shall provide or contract with a private entity\nto provide to members of the public wh o have made a notification request,\nnotification of the release of an incarcerated person from a penitentiary, as\ndefined in KRS 197.010, facility for youthful offenders, regional jail, or\ncounty jail. The warden, jailer, or chief administrator, or a perso n designated\nby the warden, jailer, or chief administrator, of a penitentiary, facility for\nyouthful offenders, regional jail, or county jail, shall make available to the\nDepartment of Corrections, or any private entity under contract with the\nDepartment o f Corrections, the information necessary to implement this\nsection in a timely manner and before the release of any incarcerated person\nfrom the penitentiary, facility for youthful offenders, regional jail, or county\njail. The Department of Corrections or the private entity under contract with\nthe Department of Corrections shall be responsible for retrieving the\ninformation and notifying the requester in accordance with administrative\nregulations promulgated by the Department of Corrections.\n(b) If an incar cerated person escapes from any penitentiary, facility for youthful\noffenders, regional jail, or county jail, the warden, jailer, or chief\nadministrator, or a person designated by the warden, jailer, or chief\nadministrator, shall immediately provide the in formation necessary to\nimplement this section.\n(c) If, upon a hearing, a court releases an incarcerated person and the incarcerated\nperson does not return to the penitentiary, facility for youthful offenders,\nregional jail, or county jail, the warden, jail er, or chief administrator, or a\nperson designated by the warden, jailer, or chief administrator, shall provide\nthe information necessary to implement this section as soon as practicable.\n(2) The Department of Corrections shall promulgate administrative re gulations for the\nimplementation of this section.","path":["KRS Chapter 196"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=6821","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:49Z","sha256":"bf854329e4cd7dd6f7a112fa21a66b1087941309718a51c1eec976ee1491b18b","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-196.270","next":"us-ky/krs-196.281"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
