{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-196.288","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 196.288","heading":"Allocations of funding to certain funds and programs.","body":"Beginning in fiscal year 2026 -2027, the following amounts shall be allocated or\ndistributed by the secretary of the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet:\n(1) Four million six hundred thirty thousand two hundred dollars ($4,630,200) shall be\ndistributed to the local corrections assistance fund established by KRS 441.207; and\n(2) Sixteen million three hundred eighty -three thousand five hundred dollars\n($16,383,500) shall be distributed for the following purposes:\n(a) To the department to provide or to contract f or the provision of substance\nabuse treatment in county jails, regional jails, or other local detention centers\nthat employ evidence -based practices in behavioral health treatment or\nmedically assisted treatment for nonstate inmates with opiate addiction o r\nother substance abuse disorders;\n(b) For KY-ASAP programs operating under KRS Chapter 15A in county jails or\nin facilities under the supervision of county jails that employ evidence -based\nbehavioral health treatment or medically assisted treatment for in mates with\nopiate addiction or other substance abuse disorders;\n(c) To KY -ASAP to provide supplemental grant funding to community mental\nhealth centers for the purpose of offering additional substance abuse treatment\nresources through programs that employ evidence-based behavioral health\ntreatment or medically assisted treatment;\n(d) To KY -ASAP to address neonatal abstinence syndrome by providing\nsupplemental grant funding to community substance abuse treatment\nproviders to offer residential treatment servi ces to pregnant women through\nprograms that employ evidence -based behavioral health treatment or\nmedically assisted treatment;\n(e) To provide supplemental funding for traditional KY -ASAP substance abuse\nprogramming under KRS Chapter 15A;\n(f) To the departm ent for the purchase of FDA -approved medication -assisted\ntreatment products as a component of evidence -based treatment for inmates\nwith opioid dependence, opioid use disorder, or other substance abuse\ndisorders, for use in substance abuse treatment program s operated or\nsupervised by the department. In purchasing such FDA -approved products,\nthe department shall consider products and treatments that may minimize the\nrisk of diversion;\n(g) To the Department of Public Advocacy to provide supplemental funding to\nthe Social Worker Program for the purpose of creating additional social\nworker positions to develop individualized alternative sentencing plans; and\n(h) To the Prosecutors Advisory Cou ncil to enhance the use of rocket docket\nprosecutions in controlled substance cases.","path":["KRS Chapter 196"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=56973","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:49Z","sha256":"cc106d839cf0650cf3f94e7c0fccefd9763f51261836c5432469a945557df21c","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-196.287","next":"us-ky/krs-196.350"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
