{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-196.700","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 196.700","heading":"Definitions for KRS 196.700 to 196.735.","body":"As used in KRS 196.700 to 196.735, unless the context otherwise requires:\n(1) \"Commission\" means the Kentucky State Corrections Commission created in KRS\n196.701;\n(2) \"Community corrections program\" means a local government agency, private\nnonprofit, or ch aritable organization within the judicial circuit which shall perform\none (1) or more of the following:\n(a) Prepare community penalties plans;\n(b) Directly provide, arrange, or contract with public and private agencies for\nsentencing services for offenders; and\n(c) Monitor the progress of offenders placed on community penalty plans or who\nreceive sentencing services through provisions of KRS 196.700 to 196.735;\n(3) \"Community corrections programs plan\" means a written plan for the development,\nimplementation, operation, and improvement of a community corrections program;\n(4) \"Community penalties plan\" means a plan presented in writing to the sentencing\njudge which provides a detailed description of and rationale for the targeted\noffender's proposed sentence to a community corrections program or to one (1) or\nmore special programs, conditions of probation, community punishments, or\nsanctions in lieu of lengthy incarceration;\n(5) \"Conditions of supervision\" means conditions of probation, parole, mandatory\nreentry supervision, or other form of post-prison supervision;\n(6) \"Judicial circuit\" means the circuits prescribed by KRS 23A.020;\n(7) \"Supervised individual\" means an individual placed on probation by a court or\nserving a period of parole or other form of post-release supervision; and\n(8) \"Targeted offenders\" means persons charged with or convicted of one (1) or more\nfelonies who under application of law are eligible for probation or suspension of\nsentence.","path":["KRS Chapter 196"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=39585","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:49Z","sha256":"c40579db98aa30d6ca4b036802d72a337f82b3b9af2d3be5c4a13cc82d25fa19","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-196.620","next":"us-ky/krs-196.701"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
