The purposes of the commission and community corrections programs shall be to:\n(1) Provide the judicial system with sentences to be used in lieu of incarceration;\n(2) Develop community -based sentencing alternatives to incarceration for certain individuals convicted of a felony;\n(3) Monitor and enforce the payment of restitution to victims of crime and the community through financial reimbursement, community service, or both;\n(4) Stimulate local involvement in community corrections programs to assure that they are specifically designed to meet the needs of the sentencing court and the community; and\n(5) Reduce expenditures of state funds by increasing commun ity-based sentencing, reducing the rate of recidivism, and reducing revocations of probation and parole.","path":["KRS Chapter 196"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=6849","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:49Z","sha256":"900b6c6fbcd2b4c3e568671d7704111b08749c92c419209567b309d2a98a25e8","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-196.704","next":"us-ky/krs-196.710"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
