{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-197.120","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 197.120","heading":"Employment of prisoners by other state agencies -- Restriction.","body":"(1) The Department of Corrections may enter into contracts with any other state agency\nfor the use and employment of prisoners who may be eligible for the assignments.\nThe contracts shall specifically set forth the compensation to be paid to the\nDepartment of Corrections for the use and employment of the prisoners, for the\npayment of the expenses of transporting, guarding, housing, disciplining, and\nmaintaining the prisoners while so employed. The amount to be paid shall be\ncertified by the contracting parties to the Finance and Administration Cabinet at the\nend of each month and shall be charged to the appropriation of the agency liable for\nthe payment thereof and credited to the budget of the department to be disbursed\nand expended as it directs. Any contract may provide for a fixed per diem\ncompensation to be paid to the department for each day's work performed by the\nprisoner and the department shall pay, out of the per diem compensation, the\nexpenses of transporting, guarding, disciplining, housing, and maintaining prisoners\nas may be provided in the contracts.\n(2) The Department of Corrections shall not enter into any contract with the\nDepartment of Revenue for the use or employment of prisoners in any capacity that\nallows prisoners access to taxpayer inform ation, including, but not limited to, tax\nreturns, informational reporting returns, social security numbers, telephone\nnumbers, or addresses.","path":["KRS Chapter 197"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=6880","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:50Z","sha256":"235a161a48696389aa041ac19a127f9da262dd54d102a3dc9706ab4f0a669517","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-197.110","next":"us-ky/krs-197.130"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
