{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-197.170","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 197.170","heading":"Release of prisoner -- Parties to be notified -- Means of providing notice --","body":"Posting of notice received by law enforcement officers.\n(1) (a) The wardens of the state penitentiaries upon the release of any prisoner or\ninmate from confinement shall immediately notify:\n1. The Circuit Court, the Commonwealth's attorney of the district, and the\nsheriff of the county where the inmate was sentenced;\n2. The Circuit Court, the Commonwealth's attorney of the district, the\ncounty attorney and sheriff of the coun ty, and the chief of police of the\ncity and county, to which the inmate is released; and\n3. Any victim, as defined in KRS 421.500, who has requested that he or\nshe be notified on release of a particular inmate who victimized him or\nher and who has forwarde d a current address and telephone number to\nthe Department of Corrections.\n(b) The notice shall give the residence of the person released and the name of the\nperson to whom he or she was released. The provisions of KRS Chapter 202A\nnotwithstanding, the Dep artment of Corrections may release to the public the\ninformation that a petition to involuntarily hospitalize a prisoner has been\nfiled concerning any inmate who is scheduled to be released from custody.\n(2) Notice under subsection (1) of this section shal l be given by mail, fax, or electronic\nmeans at the discretion of the Department of Corrections in a manner to insure\nreceipt.\n(3) Notices received by sheriffs and chiefs of police shall be posted in a conspicuous\nlocation where personnel employed by the d epartment may see it.
