{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-197.505","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 197.505","heading":"Privatization of prisons -- Maintenance of designated security level of the","body":"facility -- Locations restricted.\n(1) The state may enter into contracts with a private provider to establish, operate, and\nmanage adult correctional facilities. In all s uch contracts the state shall retain clear\nsupervisory and monitoring powers over the operation and management of the adult\ncorrectional facility to insure that the inmates are properly cared for and that the\nemployees of the facility and the public are adequately protected.\n(2) Any adult correctional facility operated by a private provider under this section shall\nensure that all inmates housed in the facility, including those inmates housed under\ncontract with another state, shall meet classification requ irements as set forth by the\ndepartment for the designated security level of the facility.\n(3) Any adult correctional facility contracted for pursuant to this section shall be\nconstructed only in a county with an established Department of Kentucky State\nPolice post or in a county in which at least two (2) State Police officers reside as a\nresult of a duty assignment or in a county with a full-time police department.","path":["KRS Chapter 197"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=6903","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:50Z","sha256":"d3ca08b17d70fcd22ae96e7a6a9637b181b2922f11d700b696a42af4a56a6f62","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-197.500","next":"us-ky/krs-197.510"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
