The objectives of a Kentucky housing policy shall be to:\n(1) Encourage the availability of decent and affordable housing for all Kentucky\nresidents;\n(2) Identify the basic housing needs of all Kentuckians, including the elderly, persons\nof low and very low income, the disabled, the homeless, and single -parent\nhouseholds;\n(3) Coordinate housing activities and services among state departments  and agencies to\nensure program flexibility and comprehensive housing production;\n(4) Remove administrative and regulatory guidelines to ensure compatibility in the\ndevelopment of affordable housing for all Kentuckians;\n(5) Inventory state owned lands and buildings to evaluate utilization for both public and\nprivate housing development;\n(6) Encourage and strengthen collaborative planning and partnerships among social\nservice providers, all levels of government, and the public and private sectors,\nincluding for-profit and nonprofit organizations, in the production of affordable\nhousing;\n(7) Reevaluate housing and housing -related programs and policies to ensure proper\ncoordination of those programs and policies;\n(8) Coordinate housing into comprehensive commun ity and economic development\nstrategies at the state and local levels;\n(9) Encourage local planning commissions to include a housing element in the five (5)\nyear comprehensive plan; and\n(10) Discourage housing policies or strategies which concentrate affor dable housing in\nlimited sections of metropolitan areas and county jurisdiction.","path":["KRS Chapter 198A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=6926","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:50Z","sha256":"eeb727dfa89f6eb573e1de59c8a769386e4115e28ac5e267e8dfe830da1fe4c2","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-198a.020","next":"us-ky/krs-198a.027"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
