{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-198a.035","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 198A.035","heading":"Advisory committee on housing policy.","body":"(1) The Kentucky Housing Corporation shall oversee the development and\nimplementation of the Kentucky housing policy. The corporation shall create an\nadvisory committee on housing policy consisting of the following:\n(a) The following nine (9) state government members, or their duly appointed\ndesignees: the commissioner of education; commissioner of the Department\nfor Local Government; commissioner of the Department of Housing,\nBuildings and Construction; secretary of the Energy and Environment\nCabinet; secretary of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services; executive\ndirector of the Human Rights Commission; state historic preservation officer;\nsecretary of the Transportation Cabinet; and executive director of the\nKentucky Housing Corporation;\n(b) At-large members shall be appointed by the chairman of the board of directors\nof the Kentucky Housing Corporation. There shall be one (1) at -large\nrepresentative for each of the following:\n1. Public housing authorities;\n2. Mortgage banking industry;\n3. Manufactured housing industry;\n4. Realtors;\n5. Homebuilders;\n6. Urban nonprofit housing organizations;\n7. Rural nonprofit housing organizations;\n8. Urban advocates for the homeless;\n9. Rural advocates for the homeless;\n10. Residents of economically diverse urban neighborhoods;\n11. Residents of economically diverse rural neighborhoods;\n12. Rental property providers;\n13. Advocates for persons with physical disabilities;\n14. Advocates for persons with mental disabilities;\n15. The Kentucky State Building Trades Council;\n16. The Kentucky League of Cities; and\n17. The Kentucky Association of Counties; and\n(c) One (1) member of the Senate and one (1) member of the House of\nRepresentatives.\n(2) State government members and General Ass embly members shall serve on the\nadvisory committee during the term of their elected or appointed state government\npositions. Members appointed as provided by subsection (1)(b) of this section shall\nbe appointed for four (4) year terms, except that initial ly five (5) shall be appointed\nfor two (2) year terms, six (6) shall be appointed for three (3) year terms, and six (6)\nshall be appointed for four (4) year terms.\n(3) The advisory committee shall meet at least quarterly and hold additional meetings\nas necessary. Eleven (11) members of the committee shall constitute a quorum for\nthe purposes of conducting business and exercising its powers for all purposes.\n(4) Any vacancy shall be filled as provided by the requirements and procedures for the\ninitial appointment and only for the remainder of the term of the initial appointment.\n(5) Any at -large member may be removed at any time, with or without cause, by\nresolution of a majority of the board of directors of the corporation.\n(6) The advisory committee shall c onsult with and advise the officers and directors of\nthe corporation concerning matters relating to the Kentucky housing policy.\n(7) The corporation shall annually report its findings and recommendations regarding\nthe Kentucky housing policy to the Governo r and the Interim Joint Committee on\nLocal Government of the Legislative Research Commission.\n(8) The advisory committee shall elect a presiding officer from among its members and\nmay establish its own rules of procedure which shall not be inconsistent wit h the\nprovisions of this chapter.\n(9) Members of the advisory committee shall serve without compensation. Members\nwho are not employees of the Commonwealth shall be entitled to reimbursement for\nactual expenses incurred in carrying out their duties on the committee.\n(10) The Kentucky Housing Corporation shall provide the staff and funding for the\nadministrative activities of the advisory committee. The Kentucky Housing\nCorporation shall perform all budgeting, procurement, and other administrative\nactivities necessary to the functioning of the advisory committee. The advisory\ncommittee may authorize studies as it deems necessary and utilize Kentucky\nHousing Corporation funds and other available resources from the public or private\nsector to provide housing needs data.","path":["KRS Chapter 198A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=6928","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:50Z","sha256":"c4b92457815f223d7dd72c5e5b4d91e84cb422d6f8ba710bc71b66e56936dea2","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-198a.030","next":"us-ky/krs-198a.040"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
