{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-198b.4003","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 198B.4003","heading":"Elevator or fixed guideway  system  work  requiring licensed","body":"elevator mechanic and supervising general contractor -- Exceptions.\n(1) Only a licensed elevator mechanic working under the general supervision of an\nelevator contractor may:\n(a) Erect, construct, alter, replace, maintain, remove, or dismantle any\nelevator or fixed guideway  system  contained within buildings or\nstructures; or\n(b) Wire any elevator or fixed guideway system from the mainline feeder\nterminals on the controller.\n(2) A licensed elevator contractor shall not be required for removing or dismantling\nelevators or fixed guideway systems:\n(a) That are destroyed as a result of a complete demolition of a secured\nbuilding or structure; or\n(b) Where  the hoistway or wellway is demolished back to the basic support\nstructure and does not allow access that could endanger the safety and\nwelfare of a person.","path":["KRS Chapter 198B"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=46912","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:51Z","sha256":"f1b643d4c20c66939119c97bd89edd6b022cd689031862e4b38c280a85914c4d","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-198b.400","next":"us-ky/krs-198b.4005"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
