{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-198b.4009","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 198B.4009","heading":"License required to work as elevator contractor or mechanic  --","body":"Exemption  for helper or apprentice -- Applicability to public universities --\nAdministrative regulations.\n(1) A person shall not work as an elevator contractor or elevator mechanic unless\nlicensed by the department. A person may  work as an elevator helper or\napprentice without a license while under the general supervision of a licensed\nelevator mechanic.\n(2) A  person who  is a regular and bona fide full-time employee of a public\nuniversity and who  performs only routine maintenance on elevators for the\npublic university shall be licensed as an elevator mechanic. The  public\nuniversity shall not be required to become licensed as an elevator contractor to\nemploy a licensed elevator mechanic performing elevator maintenance for the\npublic university under this subsection. An elevator mechanic who qualifies\nunder this subsection shall only be authorized to conduct routine maintenance\non  any elevators for the public university, and  shall be prohibited from\nperforming any of the other activities authorized by KRS 198B.4003(1).\n(3) The  department, with input and comments  from the committee if required by\nKRS  198B.030(8), may  promulgate administrative regulations necessary to\nimplement KRS 198B.400 to 198B.540.","path":["KRS Chapter 198B"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=46913","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:51Z","sha256":"8b2e827a505b28ce1f78273f62c7b2411c623125ce306322396bdf45feaada85","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-198b.4007","next":"us-ky/krs-198b.4011"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
