{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-198b.4019","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 198B.4019","heading":"Emergency elevator mechanic license -- Proof of competency -- Time","body":"and geographic limitations -- Renewal.\n(1) The department shall issue emergency elevator mechanic licenses whenever an\nemergency is declared by the Governor due to disaster, act of God, or work\nstoppage, and the number of persons in the state holding licenses granted by the\ndepartment is determined by the commissioner to be insufficient to cope with the\nemergency.\n(2) Elevator contractors shall respond as necessary to ensure the safety of the public.\n(3) Any person confirmed by a licensed elevator contractor to have a combination of\ndocumented experience and education to perform elevator work without direct and\nimmediate supervision shall seek an emergency elevator mechanic's license from\nthe department within five (5) business days after commencing work under this\nemergency provision if the work requires a license under ordinary circumstances.\nThe elevator contractor employing the elevator mechanic shall furnish proof of\ncompetency as required by the department.\n(4) Each emergency elevator mechanic license shall be valid for a period of forty -five\n(45) days from the date of issuance and for the particular elevators or geographical\nareas designated by the department, and otherwise shall  entitle the licensee to the\nrights and privileges of an elevator mechanic licensed under KRS 198B.400 to\n198B.540.\n(5) The department may renew an emergency elevator mechanic license during the\nexistence of a continuing emergency.","path":["KRS Chapter 198B"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=36594","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:51Z","sha256":"ce2c19459467cbdd6ff5a3a6a19917d78f42cc4a23dc11bb7f36765dc71955fe","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-198b.4017","next":"us-ky/krs-198b.4021"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
