{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-198b.4021","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 198B.4021","heading":"Temporary  elevator mechanic  license -- Proof of competency  --","body":"License valid for one year -- Renewal.\n(1) An  elevator contractor shall notify the department when the contractor has a\nshortage of licensed personnel available, due to a reduction in licensed\nelevator mechanics employed by the contractor or an increase in work, to\nperform  elevator work. The  elevator contractor may  request that the\ndepartment issue temporary elevator mechanic licenses to persons confirmed\nby the licensed elevator contractor to have a combination of a minimum  of\ntwenty-four (24) months' documented experience and education as part of:\n(a) A state-certified apprenticeship educational program;\n(b) A training program provided by the National Elevator Industry Educational\nProgram or the National Association of Elevator Contractors; or\n(c) Equivalent experience while serving in the United States military services;\nto perform elevator work without direct and immediate supervision, not to\nexceed  twenty-five percent (25%)  of the number  of licensed personnel\nemployed by the elevator contractor.\n(2) Any  person confirmed by an elevator contractor to have a combination of a\nminimum  of twenty-four (24) months' documented experience and education as\npart of:\n(a) A state-certified apprenticeship educational program;\n(b) A training program provided by the National Elevator Industry Educational\nProgram or the National Association of Elevator Contractors; or\n(c) Equivalent experience while serving in the United States military services;\nto perform elevator work without direct and immediate supervision shall be\neligible to immediately seek a temporary elevator mechanic license from the\ndepartment.\n(3) Each  temporary license shall be valid for a period of one (1) year and only\nwhile the licensee is employed  by the licensed elevator contractor that\nconfirmed the individual as qualified.\n(4) The temporary license shall be renewable for one (1) additional term of one (1)\nyear.","path":["KRS Chapter 198B"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=52148","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:51Z","sha256":"854db4a27751a84d9b462b6ae8c4ec380ed132d8ede375ed92771d978db2b6b9","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-198b.4019","next":"us-ky/krs-198b.4023"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
