{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-198b.4025","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 198B.4025","heading":"Continuing education requirements -- Waiver -- Revocation of","body":"program  approval if continuing education records falsified.\n(1) An  applicant for the renewal of an elevator contractor license or elevator\nmechanic  license shall submit a certificate of completion from a continuing\neducation course or courses that instruct licensees on new  and existing\napplicable administrative regulations of the department.\n(2) Licensed elevator contractors and licensed elevator mechanics shall complete\nat least eight (8) hours of continuing education annually. Continuing education\nfor a renewal year shall be attended and completed during that renewal year.\n(3) Continuing education courses shall be taught by instructors employed by\ncontinuing education providers that may  include but shall not be limited to\nassociation seminars and  labor training programs. Continuing education\nprograms provided by the National Elevator Industry Educational Program or\nthe National Association of Elevator Contractors shall be approved to meet the\nrequirements for continuing education. The department may  approve other\neducation  programs  that meet  its requirements established through\nadministrative regulation under KRS 198B.4023(7).\n(4) A  licensee who is unable to complete the continuing education requirements\nfor renewal under this section prior to the expiration of his or her license due to\ntemporary disability may apply for a waiver from the department. The waiver\nshall be on a form provided by the department, with a notarized signature of\nthe licensee, and accompanied  by a certified statement from a physician\nattesting to the temporary disability. Application for medical waiver shall be\nreceived by the department prior to the final day of the licensee's birth month.\nUpon  termination of the temporary disability, the licensee shall submit a\nsupplementary certified statement attesting to the termination of the temporary\ndisability and proof of attendance of at least eight (8) hours of continuing\neducation.\n(5) Falsifying or knowingly allowing another to falsify continuing education\nattendance records or certificates of completion shall constitute grounds for\nrevocation of program approval required under this section.","path":["KRS Chapter 198B"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=46915","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:51Z","sha256":"fb3fcbd5cb66d6ebf47c208458da5aa06a40280eb3df063fec1f94f5fe5ca871","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-198b.4023","next":"us-ky/krs-198b.4027"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
